In my 40+ years in photography, I have never had a stuck lens filter. I also have never dropped a lens or dented the front part of the lens to cause the filter to get out of shape and not be unscrewed. Have you tried one of those Jar opener rubber mats? Another thing is I buy only Hoya, Sigma, Sony/Minolta lens filters.

Well, being pretty long in the tooth myself, I’ve had to admit that I’ve not seen everything, despite my years. In this case, I dinged the lens front and that sucker would not come undone, despite my efforts of using a rubber grip and a jar lid wrench. The lens filter was one of the more reputable B+W gizmo’s so what can I say? Canon was 100% correct in their instructions, if for no other reason than their method worked!
